Funny Farm

Funny Farm

I've been working/addicted to this for the whole week. Its very educational, entertaining, irritating, frustrating, etc etc.

It opens up ur mind horizons. I got to know poker stars, magicians, comics, cartoons, etc and how the hell they all link together.

Stuff like this -

Note the purple dinosaur.. its Dino from The Flintstones!

*do a Wiki on White Island and follow the link to the official site n u'll see it.*

My Mum is My Terrorist

I'm sure its not the 1st time I'm complaining tis..

MY MUM THREW AWAY MY STUFF AGAIN!!!

Amongst the victims..

1) My Taiwan Hotspring water which was safely in a Sigg bottle, screwed top, in the corner of my shelf.. she said its too smelly.. like it pollutes the whole room like dat.. its bottled up mind u.. n they're not freaking stinky.. no smell AT ALL!

she poured the water into the sink..

2) My collection of tags. All my billabongs, quiksilver, ripcurls, nikes, addidas, etc etc. I noe they're messy, but its in the little drawer! Collect for SO LONG.. she treats them as trash..

3) My i-think-got-24-yrs-old doll which was on top of my cupboard, innocently and harmlessly sitting there. I presume it was thrown. I asked my mum, she ignored me. T.T

The thing is, she packed up my shelf, leaving my messier (& obvious) tables untouched.

My shelf is freaking empty now. I'm sure there's others I cant rem. Like where's my McDonald's turtle!?!??!

ALL the irreplaceable things..

*GROWL*

HOW did she throw so many things away in the span of 12 hrs!?!??! Without asking me?

HOW oh HOW to tok sense into her?? HOW to tell her not to pack my room anymore!??!?!

I'm freaking sad now.. DAMNNNNN...

N I'm predicting she'll continue, even after I jus told her not to touch my stuff.. (like I nvr tell her b4 like dat..)

Thais from a Tourist's Point of View

As usual, some observations from the trip.

Sweet Tooth
Thais like their things sweet. EVEN mineral water! Singha ones r sweet. We had to go to the pharmacy or 7-11 to get bottled water which are NOT sweet (thru trial and error, thankfully it din take too many bottles to find the right one). The beef noodle that we had actually includes a pack of sugar and a pack of dried chilli flakes. SUGAR with beef noodles!?!? (I LOVE their beef noodles btw. Actually I only ate from one stall, the one a few streets down from Montein Patpong).

Sea of Yellow
They are respectful of their King. On Mondays, you'll get to see the streets in yellow. Everyone donned their special yellow tops with the royal emblem and the tops come in different varieties, sleeveless, tanks, tees, shirts, u-name-it-they-have-it! Its little wonder u see those yellow tops on sale EVERYWHERE. Its like a necessity for them.

Thais, other than respecting their King, are very religious also. They have statues of gods at road corners and people would pray b4 carrying on to their destinations.

Hard to understand
This is from my airport fishy experience lahh. Its super difficult even when I'm speaking english bcos they dun understand! Then they speak Thai, I DUN FREAKING UNDERSTAND also!! So u see...

Gimme a country where I understand their language!! (I understand jippunese ok! kekkeke)

Bangkok Expedition Day 5 - Guest-Blogged By 浪迹天涯小狗

19 Sept 2006

Tuesday. Finally the day to say goodbye to BKK, and bring back 50+ fishes.

Well.. SUPPOSED TO!

Mistress's victories.

We woke up early for some last min shopping at MBK. Had our lunch at some ramen place, but Mistress's stomach wasnt very good so she din really enjoyed it.

Look at their survey forms.

Survey form.

Cover the Cost?

MBK

Mister Doughnut.

Mistress's fren da bao-ed some back to SG. Mistress doesnt think its good so she din get any.

The total purchases.

BKK Airport.

Here we are at the airport, waiting for check in.

I'm pushing the trolley!

As happily as we were to be finally embarking on our trip back SG, we were STOPPED BY THE PPL AT THE SCAN!! Apparently bcos of the fishes. N no matter how we persuaded/coerced/argued/etc etc, they're still not allowed on hand. Its not in their terms n conditions n mistress's frens always brought fishes back.

So they gave us 2 choices, leave the fishes here (roughly 60 lives n a lot of karma), or delay flight n make plans with the fishes.

It took the mistress 3 missed flights, and a long nite at the airport IN THE MIDST OF THE MILITARY COUP to know that all they wan was to pack the fishes in the styrofoam box n check it in. They directed mistress here, there, EVERYWHERE and not saying what they really wan was a styrofoam box to check it in.

*Grumbles* So hard to understand them when they're conversing to themselves in Thai n ignoring the mistress most of the time.

So the mistress boarded the 1st SQ flight out of BKK the next morning, paying $400+ for the return trip home (bcos return is cheaper than single trip).

SQ Boarding Pass.

The empty departure terminal early in the morning.

Emptiness.

It started raining..

N raining..

Finally we boarded the plane n are on our way home, half doubting that the coup would prevent planes from flying.

WE'RE OFF! WE'RE OFF!!

WooHoo!!

The $400 SQ Breakfast.

Distinct Clouds.

Clouds yet again.

Back on SG grounds. Nvr been so happy b4. HaHAAhahaHAa..

Bangkok Expedition Day 4 - Guest-Blogged By 浪迹天涯小狗

18 Sept 2006

Its a Monday! N we went out to a sea of yellow wearing Thais. The whole street seems to be flooded with them. Office workers, store keepers, ALL! in yellow.

View (if u call dat a view) from our hotel room.

The streets of yellow and a buddha statue at the street corner. That street is the famous red light district Patpong by the way. In the daylight that is. Very deserted.

Pink cab!

This is the motif of our hotel.

We went for brunch at Macdonalds', then to Boots pharmacy next door and Adidas, which was next next door.

Mistress and frens were scooping loads of stuff from Adidas, cos its like 20-30% cheaper than SG even not on sale. Mistress bought a tank, a polo tee and socks, while her frens bought a jacket, and some tees. Cheap Cheap!

We went back to our hotel to put the purchases, b4 embarking on ANOTHER shopping destination. Platunam Wholesale!

Actually there aint much at the Platunam place so we went to the nearby Platinum Mall after recommendations from RR who happened to be in BKK oso. (This is where the $200 bill comes from, sms-ing Birdy in TW and RR in BKK.)

There wasnt any pics of Platinum Mall as we were practically too busy stuffing items and hanging bags on our arms. SO MANY THINGS! SO CHEAP!! There's a disney wholesale store oso. Authentic or not, not sure, but the stuff looks nice thou. Mistress had a tee which ppl thot was bought from M-dustries at Bugis. So that shld look rather real rite, althou its abt SG$10. HAHHAHAHA!

So after we shop till the shops are closed (they close freaking early btw), we went back to the hotel to throw our stuff, and went out, YET AGAIN, to Chinatown this time round, for some sharksfin.

Chinatown, with all the neon lights, really look like our Chinatown.

I think the cab dropped us at the wrong Chinatown or something. THE SHOPS ARE CLOSED!! So deserted? Its like only 8+ or wat only. CLOSED!?!?

We scoured the whole street, only one shop or rather franchise, that sells dry goods. So we went in, and bought one box worth of stuff. Really ONE BOX. Luckily they do free delivery for us. Phew.

Went in search for dinner and of cos, sharksfin. There wasnt much restaurants open, and only a few sharksfin shop littered here and there. So we jus went to the place with the most ppl. Most considering the deserted streets. Scroll down for our sumptuous dinner.

Grilled prawns. Marvellous. We were tempted by this when we walked past.

Yummy!

Tom Yum Soup. Fires up ur stomach.

Crab Tang Hoon.

Sambal Sontong or Something.

There's actually a few more dishes but the mistress was too busy eating to be oiling on the camera and taking pics.

The Aftermath.

Sharksfin restaurant next to our dinner place.

These were given to us even b4 the sharksfin arrive.

Since we're so bored waiting, we played with our cameras again.

This is the elevator which they deliver the food up the stairs. Smart one there. We're seated at the 2nd floor.

Finally our birdnest.

Sharksfin.

N a gross discovery in the vinegar bowl. DEAD COCKROACH!

All in all, the sharksfin n birdnest wasnt fantastic, n there wasnt any gingko nuts for Jeff. Chinatown was a big disappointment.

Day 5. Going HOME! N some unexpected happenings.

17 Sept 2006

Chatuchak Day!

The long awaited Chatuchak! Where things are freaking cheap.

This was mistress's breakfast. From Mister Doughnut. But it doesnt seem as nice as the Taiwan one.

It was a freaking hot day.

The glaring sun

The pet section of Chatuchak was the most interesting part, at least for mistress. She took loads of photos and bought loads of fishes, which were the cause of trouble a few days later.

Colorful tank of chiclids.

A FREAKING BIG BEETLE. The sight of it jus makes mistress's hair stand.

A turtle that looks very old. R they for sale to ppl to eat or wat?

Another turtle. Or 鳖.

They have A LOT of these kind of tortoises.

Little crabs.

Little crabs also.

Bunnies.

Guinea Pigs.

Hammies.

Doggies caged up. Sobs.

This is like the CUTEST puppy we've ever seen. N he/she smiled at the camera!!

Another puppy.

Baby Hedgehog

After bringing back quite a few bags of victorious claims from CTC, we went back to our hotel, dumped our stuff, and went for dinner in the hotel, and out again.

The "door/gate" at SiLom (i think) Night Market.

Ferris Wheel

Nice Structure.

I've been going on Ferris Wheels on every trip I've been. 2 in TW, 1 here. N this is like the most dangerous Ferris Wheel ride I've had. Its freaking rocky, esp when we're at the top. The mistress n frens were trying to stablise themselves in the midst of the wind. The cabin is only supported by 1 spoke.

There wasnt much at the night market. The stores r repetitive n the products r repetitive too.

Day 4 soon.
